Would NVIDIA want to own the intellectual property (IP) of the applied research, since it’s interested in deployment?

No. NVIDIA has no intention of owning the IP of the applied research supported under the NVIDIA Applied Research Accelerator Program. Our goal with this program is to support applied research that has the potential to lead to deployed GPU-accelerated applications, whereby other companies might potentially license the IP.
